My Zurich: Sava Hlavacek

Sava Hlavacek

Home in Zurich is…

The north of the town, where the sun shines longer, where the forest is nearby, where the old trees live, where my son has the space to go out on his own.

What are you up to for work?

I photograph people, stories and film stills most of the time. I think, organise and study Intermodal Expressive Arts Therapy.

What makes someone “ein Zurcher” or “eine Zurcherin”?

The people are trendy, well-dressed and seems sometime a little bit arrogant - but they are colourful, and you find a business scene as well as an alternative scene.

What was the last exhibition or play you saw?

Fotomuseum Winterthur, Anne Collier, A very interesting position in Photography.

What is the best meal you have had?

In Zurich, Accademia del Gusto has super Mediterranean food, is centrally located, and has perfect service. If you want to make a little trip, Ziegelhütte in Schwammedingen is great:, very authentic, nice atmosphere, lovely garden, big playground. The food is regional and fresh, and the menus are changing. They also have a bowling alley!

Which shops do you rely on?

I like the organic shop Chornlade, near Limmatplatz.

Where would you recommend for a first date?

Panoramabar Jules Vernes for the great views over Zurich!

What are you looking forward to coming up in the city?

I love the summer time in Zurich. All the nice bars outside, the official pools at the lake of Zurich, and the river "Limmat“, especially the "Frauenbadi" with the Barfussbar.

For someone new to the city, what advice would you give?

Rent a bike and discover the city, especially Kreis 1, 3, 4, 5 and of course 2 with the lake!

What is your Zurich secret?

Not a secret, but you can drink the water at each fountain!
